THE CHALLENGE
Experts in Periodontics & Dental Implants solutions, 3 Step Smiles Dental, has offices in both Liverpool and Glasgow. The clinic based in Glasgow underwent a renovation, and Merlin was selected to provide the door hardware and ironmongery. The design for the project was a clinical white matched with the contemporary black and gold theme.
OUR APPROACH
Merlin were tasked with matching the black and gold specification, therefore the design of the hardware selected was from our Prostyle black mitred range. This seamlessly coordinated with the black and gold signage and 3 Step Smiles logo. It was also paired with our Prostyle black range of indicators and turns and our designer Prostyle black door closer.
THE BUILDING
The building was previously a night club and, interestingly, the first in the UK to have an elevated dance floor. It also housed a restaurant, a popular haunt for many Glaswegians in the late 1970s, early 80s. The
restaurant was called the Food Basket. Footballers rubbed shoulders with the public here in the 1980s, long queues of disco goers lined up Dunlop Street. The night clubs were closed down at the building as it was deemed unsafe. The building then underwent significant renovation some years after this, now home to 3 Step Smiles.
