In June 2024, WeWork unveiled its flagship Dublin location at One Central Plaza, breathing new life into the former Central Bank headquarters on Dame Street. This iconic 1970s building, originally designed by architect Sam Stephenson, underwent a €100 million refurbishment to transform it into a state-of-the-art flexible workspace.
A Blend of Heritage and Modernity
Spanning eight floors and totaling 73,000 square feet, the revamped One Central Plaza now accommodates 1,500 desks. The design seamlessly marries the building’s historical significance with contemporary aesthetics, featuring rich materials like dark timber and marble to create a warm yet upscale environment.
Amenities
The workspace offers a variety of options tailored to modern business needs, including private offices, conference rooms, and phone booths for focused tasks. Amenities such as a barista bar, showers, a beer island, and a rooftop restaurant with panoramic city views enhance the member experience.
Collaborative Efforts in Renovation
The renovation was a collaborative effort involving several key partners. TSK Group served as the principal contractor and architect, while The KCC Group acted as the KPL partner. Komfort contributed to the interior by supplying Polar 30 single-glazed partitions and Sonik 70 doors, enhancing both aesthetics and acoustic performance.
Merlin Architectural’s Contribution
Merlin Architectural played a pivotal role in the refurbishment by supplying high-quality door furniture, contributing to the building’s sophisticated and functional design.
A Strategic Move for WeWork
This opening marks a significant milestone for WeWork as it continues to invest in key markets. With Dublin being one of its strongest markets, the One Central Plaza location underscores WeWork’s commitment to providing flexible, well-designed workspaces that meet the evolving needs of businesses and employees alike.
