Merlin Architectural were proud to be selected to supply the satin stainless steel door hardware for the refurbishment of McDonald’s UK Head Office in London. Chosen for our proven expertise and high-quality product range, we provided durable, design-led ironmongery that complements the sleek, contemporary interior while meeting the demands of a busy corporate environment.
THE CHALLENGE
McDonald’s UK Head Office is located in Finchley, London, serving as their main administrative and operational hub. It’s undergone an internal refurbishment to refresh the working environment, modernise interiors, improve durability and staff experience without major external changes. Some key design themes included changes in the interior layout, new staff facilities, a flooring update and, of course, new ironmongery.
THE APPROACH
Our popular Prostyle Satin Stainless Steel ironmongery range (below) was selected for the fitout of this project. This was due to it’s durability and robustness due to the building being a high-traffic environment with staff going through doors many times a day. Also, the low-maintenance finish helps maintain appearance over time in busy zones and being such a versatile finish, this can be used in a wide range of commercial settings.
THE BUILDING
Largely unbeknownst to the general citizenry, Finchley’s best-kept secret lies within the heart of the McDonald’s Head Office — a hidden gem in the form of a secret restaurant! McDonald’s have created an exclusive dining space that’s off-limits to the public, reserved only for staff and select guests with special access. Inside, diners can enjoy meals completely free of charge, including fast food favourites that never make it to the public menu. It’s also where new menu items are trialled and tasted before official launches, making this hush-hush restaurant one of the most intriguing — and secretive — parts of McDonald’s UK operations.
