THE CHALLENGE
The capital city of Scotland is known for its art and literature, this place is filled with historical sites that tourists will travel the world to see. Shoosmiths experienced significant growth in the Scottish market and needed a new office space that reflected this growth. 1 Haymarket Square provided them an opportunity to sit within a prestigious area of the city and would help to foster a true agile working culture.
Shoosmiths’ aim was to provide a colourful and innovative place for colleagues and clients to come together, while also supporting both collaborative and quiet working. The request for contemporary and minimalist-design ironmongery meant that our Prostyle range would encapsulate the designer’s visions and help achieve this concept.
THE APPROACH
The office space needed a distinct quality feel therefore polished brass finish ironmongery was selected. This enabled the ironmongery to become a significant feature of the design due to the way it’s light reflectance value was of such a contrast to the door finish and the main neutral theme of other fixings and finishes.
THE BUILDING
Haymarket Square has long been one of Edinburgh’s most bustling districts. While famous landmarks such as Haymarket Station and Haymarket’s Bar has been around for decades and the exterior of most buildings still very much look familiar, the interiors are now unrecognisable from when they were first recognised as an upmarket location for living and working.
