THE CHALLENGE
Freetrade is a building aging back to the Victorian era and has stood proudly on a corner of Peter Street for generations. Merlin ensured throughout the project that the products specified, quoted and supplied were of timeless quality. We put together a proposal of Prostyle products that married the contemporary, minimal feel of the refurbishment and the heritage of the original Freetrade Exchange. This included supplying ironmongery from our mitred, return to door (RTD) and knurled range. Throughout the project, Merlin’s team were in constant communication with the fit-out contractors, ensuring the deadlines were adhered to and for maximum smoothness on site.
OUR APPROACH
Merlin was tasked with creating a timeless look across the building, while entwining a satin stainless steel, satin brass and matt black finish look across the six-storeys. See below for some of the Prostyle products that designers chose for this project:
THE BUILDING
History is ingrained into every brick of the Victorian ex-fabric warehouse and manages to successfully blend modernity whilst also showing off its proud heritage.
36,000 sq ft and six-storeys, the refurbishment also includes an impressive 5,000sq ft lower ground floor bar. Its overall aim is said to ‘attract high-quality occupiers’ to Peter Street.
The building includes sublime, best in class, Grade A office accommodation which features prime amenities without having to step outside. A gym, sauna and wellness studio are fitted within the building and provide users with a great place to relax and recharge after a productive workday.
There are many features around the building that reflect on Freetrade’s important heritage, including exposed feature columns.
